2004 Benefit Dinner and Concert - Saturday February 21, 2004

A Symphony of Stars

On Saturday February 21, 2004 the citizens of Arcadia who attended the 10th annual Arcadia High School Orchestra Benefit Dinner at the Arcadia Community Center were immersed in music.  The evening began with small ensembles played for the audience after dinner.  Craig and Mary Durst, known professionally as 2AZZ1, and three of their friends jazzed up the entertainment after dinner in their own unique way.  Craig and Mary play professionally, give private lessons to a number of Arcadia students and have coached at the Arcadia High Schools annual Music Camp in Idylwild each year.  The evening crescendo as the audience is actually immersed in music when all the students in the String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra programs come out to surround the audience for three closing numbers.  Much thanks for the evening goes to the Music Students, the Music Directors at all grade levels in Arcadia and to the parent volunteers, particularly this years chairperson; Susan Lai,  who make these opportunities to share programs like this possible.

Our Benefit Dinner is a night of great musical performances as well as a major fundraiser for our Orchestra. It enables us to provide many of the orchestra necessities (instruments, music and coaching) that may not otherwise be available to us. Big thanks to our benefectors, the businesses that placed ads in our program and individual and businesses who donate gift items for our silent auction.  Special thanks go to our $1,000 benefectors, Owen & Crystal Lin, $500 benefectors, Mickey & Lee Segal, and Chinese Parents Booster Club
